This post is correct at the time of going to press for Netflix UK!

Earlier this year we decided to pick an inspiring thing to watch every night for a week.

So, with a bit of research, here’s what we watched and I hope there are some little gems for you to enjoy.

50/50

An otherwise healthy twentysomething has a comically early midlife crisis when he gets slapped with a cancer diagnosis and a 50-50 chance of survival. This was such a great film, funny and touching in equal measures. It makes you question what is important in life.

Into The Wild

A young man gives up everything – including his trust fund and ties to a seemingly stable family – to lead a solitary life in the wild. This Oscar-nominated film is based on a true story. It’s an intriguing and engaging watch.

Food Matters

This documentary takes a timely and hard-hitting look at how the food we eat is helping or hurting our health, and what we can do to live (and eat) better. Watching this documentary completely changed our eating habits, and set us off on a journey of real food. If you want optimum health, vitality and wellbeing in your life, start by watching this.

Seven Pounds

Weighed down by a dark secret, IRS agent Ben Thomas tries to improve the lives of seven strangers in need of a second chance. Will Smith is brilliant as always in this story of salvation.

Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead

Two men whose bodies have been trashed by steroids, obesity and illness, document their rigorous healing path in a bid to regain their health. A brilliant documentary fronted by Joe Cross, a guy who was sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Fed Up

This eye-opening documentary examines the underlying causes of childhood obesity, which has become an ever-more serious medical issue in America. The food industry is the new evil in today’s society, we are all waking up to the poisons we’ve been consuming and this documentary takes a hard look at what America is doing to its’ children.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

After learning that his ex-girlfriend had an experimental medical procedure to purge all memories of him, a man decides to do the same with her. A brilliant and mind-bending film from the mind of Charlie Kaufman.

Mr Dodd

I love to write books for young children, ponder the big wobbly questions of life and create artworks that make your eyes smile. This is my website.
